Mothers’ Day Yin Yoga & Gong Bath – Sunday 26th March

Join Alex Belcourt and gong practitioner Rodger Cuddington for this special event.  Yin yoga for a deeply relaxing practice. Poses are done on the floor and held for several minutes to encourage deep fascial release. Focusing on stillness and surrender to create spaciousness and ease in the body, Alex uses mindfulness for inner contemplation and meditation.  Then a long relaxation, with the therapeutic healing and relaxation benefits of sound waves.  Pre-booking is essential for this class as space is limited. Gift cards at Reception.
Cost is the usual £12, or you can use your pass to pay – plus a suggested £5 donation for Rodger. 

Breath & Bandhas monthly workshop series with Alex – starts 19th February

Join Alex Belcourt once a month on Sundays at 11.30am, for a series of four workshops exploring the bandhas (energetic seals), their relationship to the map of the subtle body (chakras), and its place in the Yoga system. The monthly 2 ½ hr sessions include both Yin and Yang asana, breath work, meditation and discussion. The series has been designed sequentially and will build experientially, but can also be taken as stand-alone workshops*.

Sun February 19 — The Root (Mula Bandha and the Mula Dhara/Svadisthana)
Sun March 12 — Finding Yourself (Uddiyana Bandha and the Manipura)
Sun April 23 — Taking It On The Chin (Jalandhara Bandha and the Vishuddhi)
Sun May 14 — Bringing It Together* (Maha Bandha, the Great Seal and the Anahata)

Limited to 20 places per workshop.  Sessions are aimed at a Beginner/Intermediate level, but some yoga experience is preferred.
Cost is £25 per workshop, or £80 for all four workshops (sorry no refund if you miss one).  Payment is required with your booking.

*Please note that the final workshop will only be open to those who have attended at least two of the previous workshops.

NEW Beginner Reformer courses

We have a new Beginner Reformer Pilates course starting next Thursday 19th January at 12.30pm with Josie.  It’s a 4 week introductory course and costs just £60 (£15 a class). Suitable for men and women of all ages and levels of fitness. There are only a few spaces available, so do please call Reception to book yours if you’d like to come, or if you would like some advice.

NEW Vinyasa class with Sunny – Wednesdays at 1.30pm

Our new Vinyasa class starts Wednesday 11th January at 1.30pm with Sunny Warbout. This is a 60 minute class for all levels – use your pass or £12 drop in, no need to book. Join Sunny for a practice of mindful strong poses, with a focus on breathing to feel and unlock the connections between mind and body. Sunny has been practising Yoga for over 25 years, and has recently completed her Yoga teacher training with flying colours, with Ian Davis. She has been coming to classes at the studio since we first opened, nearly 9 years ago, and we are delighted to welcome her to the team. Sunny’s smile and infectious energy will leave you feeling energised and spacious.

Welcome to our January Newsletter – we all wish you a 2017 full of energy, happiness and good health.

We now have 70 classes on our timetable in Pilates, Yoga and Barre. Plus private sessions are always available with experienced and caring teachers. We have three new regular drop-in Yoga classes, and new Beginners courses in Pilates & Yoga.

If you are new to the Studio (or have been away a long time) don’t forget our introductory Yoga offer.

NEW Yin Yoga with Alex – Sundays at 5pm

alex-yin-yang-detox-photoOur new Yin yoga class starts this Sunday 8th January 5pm with Alex Belcourt. Yin poses are held for several minutes gently lengthening deep connective tissue, focusing particularly on the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Benefits include the marked improvement of flexibility and joint mobility as well as the promotion of deep relaxation. Yin is a calming, restorative practice that helps you to recharge your batteries. In this weekly class you will practise fundamental Yin postures and gain an understanding of basic concepts and benefits of Yin Yoga, and why it is an ideal complement to more dynamic practices and exercise. Alex trained with Sarah Powers and Paul Grilley, both renowned Yin Yoga teachers, and has been practising Yin Yoga for a decade.
This is a 75 minute class for all levels, drop in £12 or use your pass, no need to book.
